Invisalign: What to Expect

Scheduling an Appointment

On your first visit to our office, our dentist will conduct a thorough dental exam. The purpose of the exam is to evaluate the status of your current oral health and to resolve any possible dental issues prior to the Invisalign treatment. Once an examination has been conducted, we will take impressions of your teeth to be used for the creation of your Invisalign aligners. These transparent trays are then given to you along with instructions on how to use and care for them safely.

Transparency

The reason many of our patients opt for Invisalign is due to its transparency. The aligners consist of medical grade plastic components, which makes them discreet. Although they are transparent, they may still be slightly noticeable when in close proximity.

Removable

Invisalign aligners are the only alternative to traditional braces that can be removed at your convenience. While our dentist will recommend wearing them as much as possible throughout your treatment, it is nice to have the option to remove them for a special event or at meal times.

BPA-Free

Another fundamental reason our patients choose Invisalign is that it’s made from BPA-free plastic. This means the aligners don't contain any plasticizers or other dangerous toxins that can be released during treatment.

Time

The duration of Invisalign all depends on the severity of your case. The average treatment length is between 12 to 15 months.

Maintenance

Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners are easy to clean. Our dentist will suggest cleaning them every time you remove them and before reinserting them. For this process, you simply need to rinse them with room temperature water.

Retainers

Once you have completed your Invisalign treatment, our dentist will suggest wearing a retainer. The device helps prevent your teeth from shifting back into their previous position.
